Use a mix of running and walking


When you are starting out with running you will have to train your muscles to become use to the physical activity. This means that you should use a combination of running and walking to build your muscles up. With this system you may start out walking for 15 minutes and then run for five minutes or until you feel tired. Over time you increase the amount of time that you are running compared to walking. Set weight loss goals

If you are running at least three to four times per week and maintaining a healthy diet you will be able to lose weight at this pace.


Run at a slow pace


As you are running for weight loss you want to always start out at a slow pace. This will help your muscles adapt to the pressure of running, then, toward the middle to end of the run you want to gradually pick up the pace. Doing this kind of workout will help your body be able to effectively warm up and it will improve the overall quality of the workout by pushing yourself at the end.
